The time has finally come! Our wish which had existed for a period of time has been realized by joining hands in our hamlet “De Westen”. The Anjahoeve, the Texels Stroodak and our Bungalow Sonja use the energy yield of solar panels.
Solar project De Westen: Let the Sun shine!
Spatially and aesthetically, it is not desirable to install solar panels on our soil. Thatched roofs and solar panels do not mix. In short, we lack roof space on our own site. We found the solution with our neighbors who own the sheds on Bakkenweg. The roofs of the barn have been replaced and there are now about 150 solar panels where we and other neighbors generate solar energy. Solar project Buurtschap de Westen has been successful.
Charging stations at the Anjahoeve
Thanks to the solar project, our guests and owners of an Electric Car can now charge their car at the charging stations of the Anjahoeve. Due to Texel’s limited distances, the island is ideal for electric cars anyway. We start with 4 EV Chargers and everyone just keeps their own parking space. Our charging stations do not work on the national EV cards. With us you pay a little charge for the consumption of electricity for charging your car. You need our own Anja Hoeve Charge Card to access the EV charging station. Please remind if you lose the card we will charge €50,00 for a replacement card.
TexelEnergie: AnjaHoeve = OM
From 1 April 2021 TexelEnergie will be the main supplier for gas and electricity at the Anjahoeve again. TexelEnergie has been around since 2007 and aims to generate 100% green energy locally. This can be achieved through various sustainable projects and small-scale initiatives. Our Solar project Buurtschap de Westen is a good example of how you can achieve sustainability through small-scale solutions close to the (holiday) home.
Texel4trading
Texel4Trading has guided our Solar project from start to finish. They offer customization and give us insight into the energy yield per solar panel per day. Texel4trading has an innovative approach. We highly recommend them.
Locations General Charging Points on Texel
There are 20 public charging points for electric cars and electric scooters on Texel. The public charging points are located in the large parking lots. Check the website of Texel touristinformation for a list of the locations where you can charge your car. Or view the locations on our Google Maps map.
How can you help us save energy?
Actually, you can help us keep the energy bill under control by remembering some very simple actions. We can make optimal use of the energy yield of the solar panels together.
- Turn on the dishwasher after breakfast (in the daytime)
- If you want to use the washing machine or dryer, do this in the daytime
- Do not forget to turn off the lights when you leave a room
- Charging (bicycle batteries, IPhone, IPad etc.) is no problem, please do this in the daytime when possible
Apart from keeping energy costs manageable, you also help us and the entire Texel community by separating waste.
In our Carport you will find:
- A large container for all your household waste
- A roll container with an orange lid for other plastic
- A roll container with black lid for PET bottles
- Boxes for paper
- A box for your glassware
- A container for your cans
- Vegetable residues, leaf skins or old bread: Bo & Bo or our chickens like those very much!
