Our farm is quietly situated at the Westerweg, which is the main road between villages Den Hoorn and Den Burg. It is about 3 kilometres away from both villages. (Turn off at the Pontweg exit 8). Pinewoods ‘de Dennen’ are at a stone’s throw and the beach is only 2.5 kilometres away.
Den Burg
Den Burg is the lively centre of the isle of Texel. There are lovely shops and lots of nice terraces. Each Monday morning there is a market.
Restaurants
There are fine restaurants in the surrounding area, among others there is Bos en Duin, de Worsteltent and Catharinahoeve (go there for lovely pancakes!). There’s much room for culinary delight. More lovely restaurants can be found in the villages Den Hoorn and Den Burg.
Horse riding
For horse riders there is riding school ‘Akenburg’, quite near the Westerweg. And there is also ‘Hoeve Vrij en Blij’, a boarding place for horses.
De Koog
At 8 kilometers distance there is De Koog, the main sea-side resort of Texel, and very popular with young people. Near De Koog there is Ecomare (seals) and swimming paradise Calluna.
Museums
Besides, some nice museums can be visited on Texel. Museums such as het Luchtvaart- en Oorlogsmuseum near the airfield, Cultuurhistorisch museum in De Waal, the Maritiem en Juttersmuseum in Oudeschild and the Schipbreuk- en Juttersmuseum Flora at the Pontweg between Den Burg and De Koog. Or step up 118 stair steps and enjoy the amazing view on top of the Lighthouse
Texel has lots of activities to offer. You might want to go and play golf, go skydiving, sail a catamaran or go kite surfing. And of course it’s great for long and short (nordic) walks and bicycle rides.
